The country’s first oil refinery and one of the largest projects ever undertaken in Vietnam

Petrovietnam’s US$3billion Dung Quat oil refinery in Quang Ngai Province, has a capacity of 130,000 bpsd and commenced operations in February 2009. Processing low sulphur crudes form the Bach Ho offshore fields, the refinery’s products include LPG, petroleum, kerosene, jet fuel, diesel and propylene, meeting around 30% of domestic needs.

High-Point Rendel was appointed maritime consultant for the project by the Project Management Contractor (PMC), Shaw Energy & Chemicals, with responsibility for reviewing and auditing the design and supervising construction of the 1.5km long rubble mound breakwater, approachway, jetties, seawater intake and outfall structures, dredging contracts and single point mooring (SPM) facility for 100,000dwt vessels. Three finger jetties provide six berths for vessels ranging from 3,000dwt to 50,000dwt.
