Gautrain is a state-of-the-art, 80km mass rapid transit rail network linking Johannesburg, Pretoria and OR Tambo International Airport to relieve traffic congestion in the Johannesburg-Pretoria traffic corridor. The first part of the system, between Sandton and OR Tambo Airport, opened to the public on 8 June 2010, in time for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

High-Point Rendel has provided a wide range of specialist commercial and contractual consultancy services in support of Murray & Roberts during the entire life-cycle of the project to date. The scope of work has included design and build (D&B) tender support, strategic review of contractual agreements and the Concession Agreement, interrogation and assessment of major project risks and proposed mitigation strategies, commercial and contractual advice on claims entitlement, and planning and programming support.
