John Dawson has over 40 years of civil and structural engineering experience in the construction industry and has completed more than 100 major project assignments around the world. He has a wealth of knowledge and expertise in civil engineering design, design development and management of major steel and concrete structures in the transport infrastructure, buildings, industrial, process and energy industries.
John has managed multi-disciplinary design teams across the entire life-cycle of projects from conceptual design through to construction and operation. He has also carried out consultancy studies for safety assessments, commercial risk analyses and management reviews on a wide range of projects.
In his role as Expert, John has carried out investigations and prepared expert reports for lawyers, insurance companies, the Health & Safety Executive, international contractors and Employers for civil disputes and insurance claims and has appeared as an Expert Witness in court and at arbitration hearings. Two of these reports concerned commercial disputes over design and construction management of very large bridge and airport projects. John has investigated several major engineering failures including multiple fatality events for two bridges. He was a principal prosecution witness in the Port Ramsgate Trial in the UK, a landmark case concerning the failure of a walkway bridge.
