The Marmaray Rail Tube Tunnel & Commuter Rail Mass Transit System (Contract BC1) is a world mega-project comprising a 13.6km undersea railway tunnel running under the Bosphorus Strait in Istanbul, linking Europe and Asia. The project involves the upgrade of 63km of suburban train lines to create a 76km high-capacity line between Gebze and Halkali and includes the construction of 1.4km immersed tube tunnel with approach tunnels, three new underground stations, upgrade and renovation of 37 existing surface stations. and completely new electrical and mechanical systems.
High-Point Rendel's project team in Istanbul is providing specialist commercial, technical and management consultancy services to the Taisei-Nurol-Gama Joint Venture contractor responsible for Contract BC-1. The scope of work to date has included a site visit to review contract documentation and develop a claims strategy; strategic commercial and contractual advice to maximise recovery of time and cost entitlements; strategic direction and guidance in respect of claims management; and day-to-day on-site management of the claims process.
