The Medupi Power Station is a new 6 x 800MW coal-fired power station being built by Eskom near Lephalale in Limpopo Province, South Africa. The station will have six boilers each powering an 800 MW turbine, producing 4,800 MW of power. The first 800 MW unit is expected to be commissioned in early 2012, with the next units following at nine month intervals.

High-Point Rendel was engaged to provide commercial, contractual, technical and management services to Murray & Roberts, the principal boiler erection and support steelwork subcontractor (to Hitachi Europe). The scope of work included bid support and tender negotiations, commercial and contractual advice, planning and programming support, subcontract administration and management of the engineering design process.
