The Vidin-Calafat Bridge is a 1,971m combined road and rail crossing over the river Danube linking Bulgaria and Romania. The bridge comprises three extradosed (cable stayed bridge with short towers and shallow stays) spans of 180m over the navigational channel and seven 80m spans and an end span of 52m over the remainder of the river.
High-Point Rendel is performing the role of independent supervision and checking engineer (with Ingérop, France). The scope of work includes contract administration (under a FIDIC contract) and supervision of construction on site as ‘Engineer’ under the Design-Build contract. Under a separate contract with the Ministry of Transport & Communications, High-Point Rendel is supervising the adjoining Bulgarian infrastructure works.
